Gypsy Quilt Progress Since Last Post

It has been over a year since I have posted anything on the progress of my Jen Kingwell's Gypsy Quilt that I am making.  See some of my project just take forever as I am always starting new ones in the process because of my obsession with all things fabric.  I am hand quilting with Aurifil 24 weight cotton in a off white color and it is great thread to work with and I have some nice medium like stitches which make the quilt remind me of a nice old patchwork quilt that I grew up with and loved.  I thought about quilting this on my sit down longarm "George" but decided I would try my luck with hand quilting.  I probably have another 6 months to go before I finish it.  (at least).  I took a bunch of orphan blocks and made the backing for this quilt.  I have been trying to use up some of my fabric stash as I don't have the space to keep storing more and more fabric so am trying different ways to do my quilt backs which I think are even prettier than just one solid piece of fabric.  Almost like making 2 quilts.   I will post again when this project is complete.  BTW, I did not buy one single piece of fabric to make this quilt as it is mostly just my left over scraps.  I loved piecing this quilt top!!!!!!

Happy Quilting and Sewing!!!!!

Pillows For Sewing Room

Yes, finally after 3 years I have actually pulled out an unfinished sewing project and is now completed.  I know we all have those and I still have plenty more of them.  What makes me do this?  Well, I believe it is my love of all things colorful to do with fabric, thread, pictures, markers, pens, crayolas, etc.  I see a new piece of fabric and get a vision of what I can do with it.

I also believe my new bullet journal system of organizing my life is helping with this.  If I put it on my list I have to accomplish the to do or keep moving it to another week and after several weeks of rewriting I think my mind said "just do it and move on ".

Can you tell that one is a spool of thread?  No one in my family saw that but me but then they aren't sewers/quilters. These were made from the left over scraps from my curtains below.  Happy Sewing!!!

Playful 2 Quilt For Zoe

My latest finished project is attached below.  Noticed I used the words finished project as I have many that are works in progress but not finished.  This is a quilt for my Grand Daughter, Zoe as she got a new bed and needed a new quilt.  It is Playful 2 by Cluck Cluck Sew.  It took about a month from start to finishing.  I quilted on my Bernina 750 using a walking foot and the #4 stitch.  It was a fun project.  The matching pillow I just used up the left over strips of fabrics and used my Fabrique Die cut machine for the alphabet letters.  I used the raw edge appliqué technique I learned from a Sue Nichols class I took through my Sewing Guild several years ago.
